Just like Stevie Wonder wrote, 'I just called to say I love you'-this song was written on the toilet. Why? Might well you ask-rest assured it wasn't due to any gastrointestinal dysfunction. Rather-I hadn't written a song in months and was tired of my voice and feeling tired and so I wrote myself an almost love song. I wanted to sing about not being afraid anymore so that I actually wouldn't be. I wanted to dream about loving big.
lyrics
After hours in the bathroom, for the best sound, he finally found the words that wouldn't stay-would she be late? Or hungry? Would she come at all?
January, I couldn't do it, February it had nothing to it. March was best forgotten, April it was rotten and May I couldn't see for all the falling leaves-
I've got a silver tongue in my mouth and I'm not afraid to use it, a rusty spoon could carry me and I'm not scared that I'll lose it on you 'cause all of the summer fruit have gone and winter, is on its way
In a jacket he was saving, for the right occasion, he pushed his bike outside into the rain and he helped himself to flowers from a church just out of town and the hammer in his heart it could have bought a mountain down
I've got a silver tongue in my mouth and I'm not afraid to use it, a rusty spoon could carry me and I'm not scared that I'll lose it on you 'cause all of the summer fruit have gone and winter, is on its way
But its 4am and its raining down, you won't come out but I don't blame you now, I don't blame you now, I don't blame you now, I don't blame-
you
I've got a silver tongue in my mouth and I'm not afraid to use it, a rusty spoon could carry me and I'm not scared that I'll lose it on you 'cause all of the summer fruit have gone and winter, is on its way

Yes, you could be a guitarist, a vocalist or a songwriter, but can you do all three well? Carla Geneve can - lyrics like poetry (both for the individual lines and the overall effect), excellent guitar work that (with help from a tight and minimalist bass-and-drums backing band) produce full-on songs, and a voice that constantly surprises - and can be young and innocent in one song, full on philosophical and middle-aged Joni Mitchell in the next. peter_of_perth_hills
